Great Britain
Victoria silver Proof Pattern Decade (Florin) 1848 PR64 NGC, KM-Unl., ESC-2940 (prev. ESC-908; R2). Exceedingly scarce and seemingly overshadowed by the iconic effigy employed on the "Gothic" Pattern Florin and seen more infrequently than the coveted "Royal Cypher" varieties; the last of this type we've handled dating back to a 2012 Long Beach sale. Showcasing a particularly attractive bust of Victoria and bestowed an added dimensionality against reflective lavender and cornflower-blue fields, the example at hand endures in a conditionally advanced tier and tied for the finest certified at NGC. While the piece exhibits a notable die crack across Victoria's forehead, this does little to detract from the overall visual character and desirability of this British rarity.
