SICULO-PUNIC. Sicily. Ca. 320-300 BC. AR tetradrachm (24mm, 16.77 gm, 12h). NGC Choice XF 4/5 - 5/5. Head of young Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / 'MMHNT (Punic for People of the Camp), head and neck of horse left; palm tree behind, dotted border. HGC 2, 293 (300-289 BC). SNG Copenhagen -. Well-executed, attractive style dies. Deep cabinet toning with layers of golden hues throughout.
Note - although SNG Copenhagen illustrates several examples of this type all of them with Heracles as the obverse die have 'MHMHNT as the reverse legend. This coin clearly has the 'MMHNT legend, which Copenhagen only has paired with Tanit-Arethusa obverse types.
