THRACE. Odessus. Ca. 280-200 BC. AV stater (19mm, 8.38 gm, 11h). NGC AU 5/5 - 3/5. Late posthumous issue in the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Athena right, hair flowing loose, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, short parallel crest ends with the right crest tail curled upward, bowl decorated with coiled serpent right / AΛEΞANΔPOY / B-A-ΣIΛEΩΣ, Nike standing facing, head left, wreath upward in outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; ΔOI monogram below wing in left field; AΠ below wing in right field. Price 1140 (same dies). Nicely struck and centered on mellow flan with subdued luster.
