Tibet. Theocracy Counterstamped Rupee ND (1939-1942) AU53 PCGS, Kangding mint, L&M-364, WS-0774, YZM-488. Host: Tibet Rupee ND (1939-1942) (cf. KM-Y3.3); Counterstamp: Characters Li Yong Lam in rectangular punch. A fleeting issue in general which is made all the more remarkable to locate in Almost Uncirculated preservation, owing to the type's natural use in trade. Presently situated near the peak of PCGS's census--just one AU55 and one AU58 certified finer--the piece shows great clarity of detail with pronounced die polish along the outline of the bust. A small planchet flaw at the base of the ponytail is noted for accuracy.
