Republic Hsiao Yueh-nan silver Medallic "50th Birthday" 50 Cents CD 1924 AU Details (Cleaned) PCGS, KM-X720, L&M-961, Kann-Plate 190, WS-0124. 32mm. Plain edge. An intriguing commemorative type that is far more commonly known from a wide variety of Fantasy derivatives, with just two other examples in silver coming to light in the course of our research into auction records from the last several decades. Almost universally encountered in lower grades with details modifiers, this piece has retained to a goldfish-orange patina in spite of its past cleaning, with strong details preserved throughout. For the sake of completeness, we note an isolated patch of scratches above the date on the reverse. From the Tony Ma Collection
