British Colony. Victoria silver "For Services Rendered During the Plague" Medal 1894 XF (Cleaned, Polished), 36mm (91mm with ribbon). 28.85gm. Awarded to Private A. Walker, Shropshire Light Infantry (engraved on edge). A rather scarce service medal, some 400 of which were originally produced in silver, with 300 awarded to Privates in the Shropshire Light Infantry, and the remainder to other ranks within the Royal service. The one other example we have been able to locate in recent auction records hammered for $2800 in August 2013.
