Republic(?) Uniface Charm or Amulet ND Certified 75(06) by Gong Bo Grading, 48.1mm. 8.6gm. An intriguing amuletic type, featuring the popular motif of the yin-yang at the center of the eight trigrams, with a hand-engraved inscription surrounding. While Classic Chinese Charms and Sequel to Classic Chinese Charms records numerous types with these motifs from the Qing Dynasty (cf. CCH-2433, 2456, and 1686), all appear to be biface and executed in bronze. Clearly, this piece was used for personal adornment and/or apotropaic purposes, as indicated by the four holes along its edge, produced for sewing onto a garment.
