Hadrian, AD 117-138. AE Sestertius (25.8g). Rome, ca. AD 122-125. Laureate bust of Hadrian right, drapery on far shoulder. Reverse: Emperor, extending arm in salute, on horse rearing left. Cf. RIC 613a (emperor holding spear); Cf. BMC 1259-62. Uniform glossy chocolate brown patina. Smoothed in the fields, nonetheless, a very handsome and rare sestertius. Sharpness of Very Fine or better.
