Israel. Four Presentation Medals to George Meany by Israel: Recognition for his 85th Brirthday by Histraudt and Three State Medals. 1.) Beautiful high relief medal featuring golden-domed Dome of the Rock within panoramic scene of Jerusalem. By noted Israeli artist/sculptor Y. A. Sadovsky. 3 ½" Sterling Silver (unknown weight) medal mounted in a 6 ½" x 8 ½" frame with velvet backing. Inscribed plate reads: PRESENTED TO OUR GREAT FRIEND PRESIDENT GEORGE MEANY ON HIS 85TH BIRTHDAY WITH OUR HIGHEST ESTEEM, HISTRADUT, TEL-AVIV, 16 AUG. 1979. George Meany (1894-1980) was the key figure in the creation of the AFL-CIO and served as the AFL-CIO's first president, from 1955 to 1979. Histradut, established in 1920, is Israel's national trade union center and represents the majority of Israel's trade unionists. Excellent condition

Includes (1) 1971 Knesset medal, 59mm, 115gm.935 silver, AU, in olive wood box with plate inscribed TO GEORGE MEANY WITH GRATITUDE AND FRIENDSHIP FROM HISTRADUT - AUGUST 1974 (2) scarce 1969 Jerusalem Mayor's Medal for Official Awards, 59mm, 115gm.935 silver, as issued in olive wood box; and (3) scarce 1969 Jerusalem Mayor's Medal for Official Awards, 59mm, 100gm, bronze, inscribed WITH COMPLIMENTS MAYOR TEDDY KOLLECK plus signature, as issued.
