AU55 | William IV (1830-1837), gold Sovereign, 1837, second bare head right, W.W. incuse on truncation, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1837 below, edge milled (Bentley 32; Marsh 21; S.3829B). About uncirculated example with light toning surrounding obverse edge, good residual mint lustre, graded by NGC as AU55.

NGC Certification 5939468-004.

Calendar Year Mintage 1,173,000.

The Latin legend on obverse translates as "William the Fourth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith", and the inscription on the reverse as "Year 1837".
