AU55 | Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half Sovereign, 1848/7, young head left, date below with 1848 struck over 1847, Latin legend reads VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered and garnished shield of arms with cross of crown not touching border denticles, surrounding BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge milled, 3.98g (Marsh 422A; S.3859). Slightly worn, attractively toned with some scratches, rare, graded by NGC as AU55.

NGC Certification 6321036-012.

The obverse Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God", reverse "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
