Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Mestrelle's Milled Issues, Threepences, 1562, Tower [Upper House] (2), bust C, elaborate dress with large rose, rev. square-topped shield over cross double-fourchée, 1.48g, 6h, m.m. star; another, similar, 1.44g, 7h, m.m. star (North 2034; Spink 2603), the the first pierced and creased, yet toned, struck details fine, the other gilt, scratched and removed from a mount with resultant damage and crimping, struck details otherwise about very fine, both scarce (2).
