Charles II (1660‑85), Shilling, 1668, second laureate draped bust right, legend surrounding CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, unclear strings to Irish harp, interlinked Cs in angles, garter star at centre, date flanking top crown, reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX (S.3375; Bull.511; ESC.1030). Light slate grey toning, haymarking mainly on obverse, the fields and periphery reflective. Portrait better than usual with some depth to the Kings hair. Rev, little fade in parts of the shields. Very fine, much eye appeal.
