Marcus Aurelius as Caesar. AE 29; Marcus Aurelius as Caesar; 139-161 AD, Trapezopolis, Caria, 161 AD, AE 29, 15.84g. RPC temp-11702, citing our coin only, in both its cleaned and uncleaned state. Obv: Μ ΑVΡΗΛΙΟϹ ΟVΗΡΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ Bust bare-headed, draped r. From the Mark Gibbons Collection, ex Roma E70, 7 May 2020, lot 961 (cleaned) and ex Naumann E75, 3 March 2019, lot 524 (before cleaning). Apparently unique, and unknown before the Naumann sale of 2019. Probably struck in 161 AD, since Marcus Aurelius is still only Caesar on this coin, but the same magistrate also struck coins at Attuda for Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus as joint emperors: see Leschhorn, Lexikon, p. 593..
