Anne (1702-1714), Pre-Union, Shilling, 1704, second draped bust left, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 6.08g, 6h (Hamilton [1979] 338; Manville [1980] 216; Bull 1389 [R5]; ESC 1132; Spink 3587), typically soft for strike on hairline, otherwise delightfully balanced for tone on obverse with striking flare framing the key devices, the reverse with tiny metal flaws in quarters and a hint of adjustment to French shield otherwise a thorougly wholesome example, very fine, extremely rare.
