Qing Dynasty, gold Pattern Kuping Tael, Reeded Edge/Small Clouds variety, Dingwei (1907), Tientsin mint, Obverse: Four Chinese characters within a beaded ring: 'Da Qing Jin Bi' (Gold Coin of the Great Qing), the outer circle above 'Guang Xu Ding Wei Nian Zao' (Made During the Ding Wei Year of Guang Xu), in the outer circle below: 'Ku Ping Yi Liang' (One Ku Ping Tael)
Reverse. Large dragon entirely surrounded by small clouds. Boldly struck with nicely reflective fields and a touch of greenish-gold patina. Light contact marks are noted on the obverse, with only a very few tiny marks on the reverse. An exceedingly rare issue, struck only in tiny numbers as Patterns,(KM-Pn302, LM-1024), PCGS SP-61. Superbly struck specimen with mirror like fields with hints of patina. Light marks on both sides. A very small number was made and thus rarely offered. A fabulous Qing era gold dragon pattern!.
