KINGS OF MACEDON. Kassander. 305-298 B.C. Æ half unit. 3.83 gm. 18 mm. Uncertain mint in Asia Minor. Struck circa 302-301 B.C. Helmeted head of Athena right / Club and bow in bowcase; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΚΑΣΣΑΝΔΡΟΥ. HGC 3.1, 997. SNG Copenhagen 1159. Very Fine; lovely glossy green patina with earthen highlights; good style; overstruck (likely on a coin of Philip III in east Asia Minor, perhaps minted in concert with Kassander's expedition to Asia Minor and the battle of Ipsus in 301 B.C.). Scarce.
