PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy IV or Ptolemy V. 222-205/4 BC or 204-180 BC. Æ (27.5mm, 15.57 g, 12h). Contemporary imitation of Alexandreia mint, Series 6A. Head of the deified Alexander right, wearing elephant skin headdress / Eagle with open wings, standing left on thunderbolt. For prototype, cf. Svoronos 1493 (Joint reign of Ptolemy VI and VIII); cf. Faucher & Lorber Series 6A; cf. SNG Copenhagen 334-8 (Ptolemy VIII). Dark brown patina, lathing circles. VF. Rare imitation of an already rare type.
