Arabia Petraea(?), Uncertain Arabian or Mesopotamian Mint(?). Commodus. A.D. 177-192. AE 23 (22.7 mm, 5.97 g, 5 h). ]COMMO[, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / LEG XX (or XV), Aquila between two legionary standards. RPC IV.3 Online 10431; SNG Righetti 476 (Patrae). Fine, brown patina with thick earthen deposits. Very rare, only one specimen known to RPC.

The legion number is not clear on either the Righetti or Agora specimen, either X or V are possibilities. (RPC describes it as LEG XX and does not assign it to a mint). It is possible that this coin falls into the same rare and unpublished series as the Sphinx coin in this sale.
