Carlos III Pillar 8 Reales 1764 G-P, KM18, Cal-93. AU Details (Obverse Graffiti) NGC. 170,154 pieces minted. A light "X" graffiti atop the crown on the reverse, but much luster and beautiful toning hiding it. Well struck with almost no wear, and an unusually high grade example of this very rare date. The superb Amat piece (Ponterio 3/1991, lot 167) was comparable in terms of wear, and the Millenia collection included a fabulous MS63 example (Golbergs 5/2008, lot 1050 for $9,500). However, the nicest specimen seen by the cataloguer is the Haberthuer example (SBC 1/1996 lot 2531), significantly better struck than the latter piece. The present coin remains a very desirable type coin in its own merit. Ex. Mike Dunigan (12/1989 for $5,000).From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins
