Group of Six with MID for D-Day Landings: 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star, - clasp - France & Germany; Africa Star; Italy Star; War Medal 1939-45 with MID; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVIR Ind:Imp). First five medals unnamed, J.114805 R.Hatton. A.B. H.M.S. Victory. on last medal. The named medal impressed. Court mounted, toned extremely fine.

MID: Recommendation by Captain: For outstanding zeal and devotion to duty during the operation and in the many exercises prior to the operation. He was at his post almost continuously for the first three days of the operation without relief. During this time he showed great fortitude, willingness, was always cheerful and carried out his duties in a most efficient manner. Able Seaman Richard Hatton, Port of Portsmouth, serving on HMS Glasgow 26 June 1944. This ship was a Southampton Class Cruiser and was severely damaged by German shore batteries during the D-Day Landings. She was previously damaged by enemy action on 11 January 1941 whilst on convoy duty.
