INDIA. Kushan Empire. Kanishka I (ca. AD 127-151). AE tetradrachm (25mm, 1h). NGC Fine, scratches. Attic standard, Kapisha, main mint (probably Begram), middle phase with Bactrian inscriptions. ÞAO ΚA-NΗΡKI, Kanishka I standing facing, head left, wearing long beard, diadem with ribbons, round brimmed Iranian cap, cloak double-clasped at chest worn over knee length tunic, trousers, and boots, flame emanating from right shoulder, dropping pellets with right hand over lit altar at left, grounded spear in left; long sword with curved hilt held by belt, dotted border / ΟΑΔΟ, Oado running left, bearded, with wind-blown spiked hair, wearing dhoti and bracelets, diaphanous billowing cloak around body held above head in both hands; tamgha in left field.
