Goeree on Louis XIV Medals

Two parts in one volume. 8vo, contemporary full vellum; both sides paneled in blind with central decorative device flanked top and bottom with fleurs-de-lis; spine with hand-lettered title. Finely engraved allegorical frontispiece title; (15), 142, (3); (2) 143-286, (4) leaves; first title printed in red and black; both titles feature a finely engraved medallion of Ludovicus Magnus; woodcut decorations; each numbered leaf, 286 in all, surmounted by a large very fine engraving of a Louis XIV medal dating from 1643 to 1700 printed in black. Rear cover a bit discolored, but a most pleasing copy overall. Near fine. A handsome example of this delightful work, one of several well-produced works of the period recording the many medals of the Sun King. Cumont 1018: "MŽdailles commŽmoratives et batailles livrŽes dans les Pays-Bas, ainsi que des siges et de la prise de plusiers villes situŽes dans les provinces belges actuelles."
