Weyl's 1899 Sale of American Coins, Partly Named
Weyl, Adolph. AUKTIONS KATALOG. SAMMLUNG AMERIKANISCHER M†NZEN & MEDAILLEN. Berlin: 147ster Auktions-Katalog, 11. April 1899 und folgende Tage. 8vo, later green cloth-backed decorative boards. (6), 160; (2) pages; 4032 lots; 4 fine plates. Printed on regular paper. Hand-priced in black ink, with many buyers' names recorded. Occasional tape repairs to gutters and to two plates; one plate with scrape across images. Very good or so. A very important sale, little-known until recent years, featuring 200 Canadian lots and 800 lots of United States coins, tokens, etc., along with a wealth of rare and important Mexican and Latin American coins and medals. Quite scarce. A great many obscure and unusual American tokens and medals are featured, along with state bank notes and Confederate paper money. Very rarely encountered with buyer names--while this copy could be in better condition, the presence of many recorded names makes it rather desirable. The sale had been postponed from March 1897, but the sale number did not change, leading Sale 147 to be held following Sale 162.

Estimate: 200 USD
