Akers on Pattern Gold, Signed by Akers and Dr. John Wilkison
Akers, David W. UNITED STATES GOLD PATTERNS: A PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDY OF THE GOLD PATTERNS STRUCK AT THE UNITED STATES MINT FROM 1836 TO 1907. Racine: Western Publishing, 1975. 4to, original maroon leatherette stamped in gilt and blind; all page edges gilt. (2), 115, (1) pages; illustrated throughout, often in color. Signed by the author on the front blank leaf recto; inscribed and signed by Dr. John Wilkison to his son on the flyleaf verso. Near fine. A neat association copy signed by the author and the man whose collection formed the basis of the book. Akers's outstanding reference work on U.S. Mint issue gold pattern coins was based largely on the Dr. John Wilkison collection. The second chapter of the book is entirely devoted to the Wilkison collection, and many of the coins depicted throughout are from this collection. Davis 17.
