Annotated Typescript Layout with Some Original Notations
Breen, Walter. WALTER BREEN'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF UNITED STATES HALF CENTS 1793-1857. Photocopy of the laid-out typescript, with photocopy annotations by Jack Collins and Alan Meghrig, and additional original annotation in red ink. Approximately 470 pages, with unpaginated blanks not present. Minor edge wear to pages; mostly near fine. [with] SEPARATE ANNOTATED LAYOUT OF THE "OOPS!" CHAPTER. Photocopy of the laid-out typescript, with original handwritten annotations by Walter Breen in red ink on 12 of the 14 pages, and with a few photocopy annotations in another hand. Printed on large paper and folded. Very good or better. A late-stage typescript working copy, with the text already laid out, of Breen's landmark half cent book. The annotations are by Jack Collins, Alan Meghrig, and Breen, and are frequently devoted to tracking photographs by coin owner, adding page numbers, and adjusting the physical appearance of the page, though textual corrections and emendations are still found throughout. Most of the annotations are photocopy, with the original red-ink corrections only occasionally present. In the separate Oops! section here present, however, Breen's red ink corrections are prevalent--they are only nearly every page, while only a few photocopied annotations are present. This draft was in Breen's personal library, and was retained by the previous owner until recently.

Estimate: 300 USD
