Brodstone & Wilkinson, et al. [publishers]. THE PHILATELIC WEST. Title varies. Superior, Nebraska, 1901-1930. One hundred sixty-three issues spanning Volumes 14 (1901) through 88 (1930), with the following volumes complete: 25, 27-28, 31, 34-36, XL, 44-45, 47, 49, 55-67, 70-75, 78-79, 81, 84-85 and 87. All 8vo, original printed or pictorial paper covers. Condition varies widely, with a number of loose covers, occasional stains and other problems, but with the average being very good. Bourne 1890-26 and 1890-37. The Philatelic West was a general hobbies magazine published between 1896 and 1930. It began as a publication of the Nebraska Philatelic Society, and its exact title changed now and then throughout its history, usually reflecting shifts in the popularity of various hobbies. While its primary focus was on stamp collecting, numismatics also fell under its purview, as did a number of other avocations. Numismatic authors who contributed to the publication include Edgar H. Adams, Farran Zerbe, S.H. Chapman, and Tom Elder. The publication changed hands in 1931 and became Hobbies Magazine. Crawford 707. Ex M. Bourne Library.
