Complete Scott's Coin Collector's Journal
Scott & Company, et al. THE COIN COLLECTOR'S JOURNAL. ILLUSTRATED. Volumes 1-13 (New York, 1875-1888), complete. 8vo, first three volumes in original matching embossed blue cloth, front covers and spines lettered in gilt; remainder bound in five matching contemporary brown half morocco volumes, gilt, with marbled sides and endpapers, spines with four raised bands, ruled and lettered in gilt, all page edges marbled. 2544 pages plus indexes; numerous text illustrations. Bindings lightly worn; generally very good or better. Edited first by Ed Frossard and later by David Proskey, Scott's Coin Collector's Journal is one of the great 19th-century American numismatic periodicals. While publications like Frossard's Numisma may be more entertaining to read, the Coin Collector's Journal provides more solid numismatic information on a wide variety of topics than any other commercial publication of the day. Bourne 1870-27. Clain-Stefanelli 485. Davis 905. Ex Stack Family Library (Kolbe Sale 111, lot 129, at $5500 hammer); ex Cardinal Collection Library.

Estimate: 1000 USD
