Large Cents & Canadian Numismatica
United States Coin Company. CATALOGUE OF AN EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTION OF HARD TIMES TOKENS, THE FINEST WE HAVE EVER OFFERED; THE MOST COMPLETE COLLECTION OF CALIFORNIA GOLD DOLLARS, HALVES AND QUARTERS EVER SOLD AT AUCTION, ALSO A VERY FINE COLLECTION OF CENTS, INCLUDING A LARGE NUMBER OF RARE DIE VARIETIES. New York, January 21, 1916. 8vo, original printed card covers. 28 pages; 519 lots. Near fine. [with] United States Coin Company. CATALOGUE OF A SPLENDID COLLECTION OF CANADIAN COINS, INCLUDING A MONTREAL BRIDGE TOKEN AND CHATEAUGUAY WAR MEDAL; UNITED STATES GOLD, WITH RARE HALF EAGLES OF 1796, 1832 AND 1834... New York, February 23, 1916. 8vo, original printed card covers. 27, (1) pages; 493 lots. Near fine. Adams 28 and 29. The first is significant in no fewer than three areas. Raymond considered the Hard Times Tokens included in this sale to be the finest he had ever offered, and they are outstanding indeed. The sale is also notable for a large collection of nearly 150 lots of California fractional (and dollar) gold coins, as well as some very fine large cents that were consigned by Henry Hines. A rare catalogue: this catalogue was lacking from Raymond's personal bound set of United States Coin Company catalogues. Adams B+ (rated A for tokens and B for large cents and private gold). Sale 29 is also rare. Rated B: "Montreal bridge token. Chateauguay medal. AU 1804 1¢. MS 1832 $2.50. MS 1855-S 25¢. Jefferson, Adams (2) peace medals. 1804 $5 trial, AR." Ex Cardinal Collection Library.
