The reduction in the fineness of Bengal gold coins in 1819 was not well accepted, so the authorities reverted to the previous 1793 standard in 1825 and adopted a left-grained edge. From 1830 a tiny crescent appears on the reverse at the top left and these coins continued to be struck until December 1835
