BURMA: TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th/18th century, cast large tin coin (28.24g), variant of Robinson-21 (Plate 9.2) (known only as a drawing from Phayre Plate III, no. 5), 65mm; carefully engraved dragon-on-sea upon an unusually engraved pedestal, with clear head left and ornate tail, fancy floral pattern above the dragon // 3-line Burmese legend, with the central character resembling the usual central square on Chinese cash coins; shallow casting, but little evidence of wear, EF, RRR. This is the second example of this type to be recorded on CoinArchives. The first, with a different shaped pedestal, sold in our Auction 43, Lot 994.
