QING: Guang Xu, 1875-1908, AE charm (5.37g), CCH-210, fu shou ("happiness and longevity") in seal script, likely made in Sichuan, VF, ex K.K. Lee Collection, in old American Missionary Church Tithe & Offering Envelope dated October 14, 1923. Empress Dowager Cixi is said to have had these palace charms made to give out on special occasions and important birthdays. Empress Dowager Cixi held the regency from 1861 to 1908.
