MALAY STATES: tin ingot (40.33g), ca. 13th-15th century, Zeno-301502, cf. Semans-104ff, 30 x 27 x 10mm, scallop-shaped ingot cast to a standard of 16 massa, stamped with uncertain symbols within incuse circles on both sides, the obverse embedded with tiny brass rings (possibly a method to harden the tin), VF. Similar ingots have recently been discovered in the Musi River near Palembang, South Sumatra. The stamps on this example are somewhat similar to the ones seen on smaller tin units (cf. Zeno-276958), which would place this coin in the late Srivijaya period.
