DURRANI: Shah Zaman, 1793-1801, AR rupee (11.09g), Balkh, AH1208 year 21 (sic), A-3108, with the mint epithet umm al-bilâd, "mother of the cities", EF, RRR. Another example of this type, from the same dies, was sold in our auction 34, lot 973, on which the reverse date appears as 1121, which I suspected was an error for 1211, which I now reject. This coin lacks the "11" on the reverse, thus only "21", which must be the reverse die for the last issue of the previous sultan Taimur, which would be AH1207 regnal year 21!
