Great Britain
Victoria silver "William & Victoria Marriage" Medal 1858 MS62 NGC, BHM-2623. 54mm. G. Loos & W. Kullrich. Obv. Busts, vis-a-vis, supported by an angel. Rev. Princess in medieval galley greeted by Germania, watched by St. George and Britannia. A remarkably beautiful and rare specimen, with nearly the entire surface area dedicated to one facet or another of the ornate design. Attractive coloration around the peripherals adds further eye appeal while the tale told by the figurative motif provides contemplative pleasure. Princess Victoria was the eldest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and would later give birth to the future German Emperor, Wilhelm II. Victoria's groom, Frederick III, the famed 99-day emperor, advocated for constitutional reforms similar to those in Great Britain, although this policy course was largely abandoned following his untimely death.
