Victoria bronze "International Exhibition" Medal 1862 MS62 Brown NGC, BHM-2747, Eimer-1553. 77mm. By L.C. Wyon, after D. Maclise. Edge: E. Wolff. Obv. Britannia seated left, surrounded by allegorical figures representing the exhibition categories, lion below. Rev. Four lines text within wreath. Founded in the 1790s, E. Wolff & Son was a London-based manufacturer of compressed lead pencils. This example of the popular type evidences scattered signs of contact and elements of friction around the rim, but the boldly struck devices remain fully intact.
