Celtic. Tourini tribe. Ca. 500-200 B.C. Celtic proto-money (18.7 mm, 5.02 g). "knobby wheel" type.

Found near Tours, France. This type was commonly found throughout southern England and western Europe. Although it does not bare any markings to the Turoni tribe, its find spot indicates it was made, or at least, used by them. The Turoni were one of the first Celtic tribes to support Vercingetorix in his defense against Julius Caesar's Gallic Wars in 52 B.C. and then again supporting the revolt of Julius Sacrovir in 21 A.D.
