Valens, Eastern Roman Empire (AD 364-378). AV solidus (21mm, 4.48 gm, 11h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5. Arles, ca. 25 February AD 364-24 August AD 367. DN VALEN-S PF AVG, pearl diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valens right, seen from front / RESTITVTOR-REIPVBLICAE, Valens standing facing, laureate head right, labarum with Chi-Rho banner in right hand, and being crowning by Victory on globe in outstretched left hand; palm branch on shaft of labarum, star in left field, KONSTAN (TAN ligate) in exergue.
