Jose Victoriano Huerta was a general in the Mexican Federal Army who became Mexico's 39th president as a result of leading a successful conspiracy against the democratically elected Francisco Madero who was assassinated in the process. The violent usurpation resulted in armed conflict and the Mexican Revolution. Huerta died in a US prison in El Paso in 1916.
