Netherlands Netherlands Bank 1000 Gulden 5.4.1909 Pick 27s Specimen PMG About Uncirculated 55. The Netherlands series of banknotes from 1904 to 1924 are rarely seen today. This 1000 Gulden is the highest denomination of the series and highest degree of rarity. This is the first and only example graded in the PMG Population Report. There are no traceable auction records for this denomination in any format in the past 20 years. At the time of issue, 1000 Gulden was an enormous sum of money, redeemable for significant quantities of gold and silver coinage. It appears that this note began life as an issued banknote, as evidenced by its serial number and signatures. Perforated cancellations were added after the fact. Just minimal circulation or handling is present. An extremely important offering from the Netherlands and a crowning banknote in today's sale. Previously mounted.
