AR Tetradrachm 3rd Cent. BC, EASTERN CELTS, PANNONIA Imitation of issues of Philip II of Macedon. Laureate head of Zeus right. Rev. horseman with palm branch right ΦΙΛΙΠΠO-Y, monogram in front, field marks Λ and torch below.Pink 10-11; cf. S. 203.Although the legends are correct and the reverse shows the mark of the Amphipolis mint (torch), this type is not an official issue of Philip II, but rather an imitation by the Celtic tribes of the Danube region. The legend reads ΦΙΛΙΠΠO-Y, instead of the more correct ΦΙΛΙΠ-ΠOY and is of a cruder style, if only slightly.14.04 g. Almost extremely fine
