Augustus Æ "Sestertius" of Lepcis Magna, North Africa. Struck under Tiberius, AD 21-31. DIVOS AVGVSTVS, laureate head to right / LPQY (in Neo-Punic script), Bacchus, ivy-wreathed and draped, standing to left, holding cup and thyrsus, panther to left behind. RPC I 848; Müller 21; SNG Copenhagen 17. 24.46g, 41mm, 8h.

Near Very Fine; struck on a vast planchet, resulting in an impressive, medallic appearance. Very Rare; only twelve specimens cited by RPC, this the first example to come to auction in just over four years.
