WILLIAM REVITT / DAMASCUS STEEL and a 3 character Chinese chop-mark; copper halfpennies of William IV and Victoria (2), counter stamped with grid or portcullis on monarch's neck; later (2), China, copper cent, counter stamped PW; and Hong Kong, Edward VII cent counter stamped P – C – 3 – 21, the Revitt marks double-stamped, generally fair or fine but Revitt a little better (6)
William Revitt, cutler, opened for business c. 1825, at 6 Meadow Street, making razors, pen, pocket, and table knives, and razor strops. His razors were made of Damascus steel 'of superior quality'. By 1833, William Revitt Jr. had joined his father, who died in Sheffield, aged 72, on 4 December 1842 and was buried in St Peter's churchyard.
