Lady Anne Clifford, Countess of Dorset, Pembroke and Montgomery (1590-1676), uniface bronze medal, 1676, her bust three-quarters l., wearing veil over the back of the head, deep lace collar with brooch in front, and bodice with jewel, ANN COVNT OF DORSETT PEMB & MOVNTG &c, 40mm. (MI.567/233; Eimer 255), cast on a 3.38mm. flan, very fine and rare
The medal recorded only in silver would normally have a reverse showing Faith, crowned, holding a Bible and leaning on a cross. Copies of the medal were made, probably by Stuart, in the late 18th century, but this medal does not show any sign of his work and the cataloguers feel that it is contemporary.

Estimate: 100 - 150 GBP
