London, erection of the statue of William IV, copper medal, 1845, by Allen & Moore for H. Hyams, the statue on plinth, rev. legend within oak wreath, 62mm. (BHM.2219), extremely fine
The statue is unusual in being carved in granite. It was erected in King William IV Street facing London Bridge but was moved in 1935 to Greenwich Park. Brown (BHM) refers to the medal as being published by B. Nixon, but the name Nixon, with the initial S (not B), was that of the statue's sculptor, Samuel Nixon (1803-1854).
