Broyhan [Broihan] is an historical beer style first brewed in 1526 by Hannover Braumeister Cord Broyhan. It is an unhopped or lightly hopped wheat beer that is brewed with pale wheat and barley malts. Like Berliner Weisse and Gose, Broyhan beer is fermented with lactobacillus and special yeast. Variable spices are used such as clove, cinnamon, and coriander as well as occasionally violet root and other spices.
