The Royal Mint Swimming Club was established in 1897 and from 1900 a silver trophy was given to winners and a medal to the second and third placed. The Royal Mint website gives a detailed account of the club, of Mr. Orchard who joined in 1892 aged 13 and illustrates another of his medals.
