ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 500-480 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.75 g). Nude ithyphallic satyr, with short beard and long hair, moving right in 'running-kneeling' position, holding a nymph in his arms, who raises her right hand in protest. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. HGC 6, 332. Le Rider, Thasiennes, 3. SNG Copenhagen 1014-6. Nicely toned and of lovely late Archaic style. Somewhat granular and with a few faint scratches on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
