MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 430-390 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 14.36 g, 6 h), Alexios, magistrate. Lion to right, attacking a bull collapsing to left with head raised; in exergue, ΑΛΕΞΙΟΣ. Rev. ΑΚΑ-Ν-ΘΙΟ-Ν Raised quadripartite square surrounded by inscription; all within shallow incuse square. Desneux - (D139/-). A beautiful, lightly toned piece with a fine pedigree. Light die rust on the obverse and with faint scratches on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
