Victoria Specimen 25 Cents 1883-H SP65 NGC, Heaton mint, KM5. An very rare Specimen issue, of which there are only three others certified by the major American third-party grading services (this is the only example at NGC and there are a SP66 and two SP67's at PCGS). The last auction appearance of this spectacular type was in one our auctions almost a decade ago; a PCGS SP67 example that brought over 18k all-in. The current selection has the type of production quality you want to see in a true Specimen issue; sharp rims, prooflike fields, chiseled motifs, and an abundance of die-polish lines. The appearance of the toning is bit dappled but the mellow pastel colors, mostly lavender and baby blue, are very pleasing overall. We are delighted to be able to offer such a majestic Canadian rarity.
